His mother's magic was concealed from him until he was ten, when he caught her lighting a candle with her wand. Thus she revealed all to him, and took him to the wizarding shopping district of Rome, where he made friends with the local boys. However, his father's muggle ambassador duties took them to England, where he felt out of place and unhappy.
